Same L-configuration as the oatmeal nook -- sofa piece with ruched back and arm bolster, large perpendicular ottoman extension at 81.8 by 81.8 inches -- in warm taupe polyester. The taupe version reads as a more grounded room presence: the grey-tan tone gives the L-shape a calm visual weight that the cream oatmeal does not carry. Against pale walls the taupe nook reads as a settled warm-neutral mass occupying its corner or free-floating position.
The ruched back detail on the sofa piece in taupe: the gathered cinch at the seam junction shows slightly more relief definition than in the oatmeal, the shadow at the bunched fabric reading against the warmer ground tone. The soft arm bolster at the outer end caps the sofa side with the same soft organic quality as the rest of the form.
The nook configuration creates the same spatial enclosure in taupe as in oatmeal: back and side both upholstered, the seated position held on two planes. Moe Samieian Sr. arrived in Canada with an engineering degree and almost nowhere to use it. So he sold rugs at road shows, worked on commission, and learned the retail floor through years of direct customer contact.
In 1986 he opened his first store in Vancouver. Walking the trade shows, he kept noticing the same thing: most furniture looked identical. So he started hunting for pieces with something to say. Antiques. Flea-market finds. Objects with texture and history. More stores followed, and in 1999 he moved decisively into wholesale.
His children Sara and Moe Jr. carried that instinct forward. Not what merely sells. What resonates. That distinction still drives every collection.
The materials earn their place. Wood warms the edges. Stone steadies the eye. Steel adds tension. Glass lets the composition breathe. A hand-worked surface keeps a modern room from feeling too resolved.

The Craft
Material First - Trend Second
Every collection is designed in-house, then built through a manufacturing network developed over decades. Vietnam, India, Italy, Poland, Canada, the USA. Not the lowest-cost option in any of those places. Long-term makers who've been held to the same standards long enough that the standards stopped needing to be explained.
The construction is what you'd expect from that kind of relationship. Solid hardwood frames. High-density foam. Hardware that doesn't announce itself by failing early. These are not selling points so much as baseline expectations that a lot of furniture quietly fails to meet.
The materials go further than that. Acacia grain that no engineered surface comes close to replicating. Stone that grounds a room both visually and physically, which are different things and both matter. Mixed metals chosen for tension rather than coordination. FSC-certified wood and responsible sourcing throughout, though the more honest argument for it shows up over time, in how the pieces age rather than what the spec sheet says.
