Gold Chandeliers
That item has been discontinued, but here are similar options.
A gold chandelier changes the color of a room before it changes the brightness. Even unlit, a brass frame adds a warm note to the ceiling. Lit at night, it pulls the wood and leather below toward amber. That is why the finish matters more than the shape.
Every piece in this edit of our modern chandeliers is finished in antique or aged brass, the softer, browner gold that looks as if it has been in the house for years. Some are tiered and tall, some are a low ring of arms, and one is long and linear for a dining table. Other finishes sit in our wider range of luxury light fixtures, chosen for warm, low light rather than glare.
What makes a gold chandelier read as antique brass
Polished gold is bright and a little loud. Antique brass is darker in the recesses and lighter on the edges, the way brass wears with age. Under a warm bulb that variation shows up as depth rather than shine.
One strong metal is enough
A brass chandelier does not need brass hardware, brass faucets and a brass mirror frame to back it up. One strong gold piece overhead, repeated once in a lamp base or a picture frame, is enough. Match every metal and the room starts to look like a showroom.
A vintage brass chandelier next to matte black
Brass and black have paired well for a long time. If your hardware, window frames or lamps lean black, a brass chandelier adds warmth overhead without competing with them. The reverse works too: a black chandelier over a room full of brass looks crisp and graphic, so decide which finish leads.
Sizing a gold chandelier for the room
A gold chandelier over a dining table
Match the shape to the table. A long table can take a linear brass chandelier or two smaller round ones, and a round table suits a single round fixture. Whatever the shape, hang it low enough to concentrate light on the table and high enough that you can still see the person sitting opposite.
A brass chandelier in an entry or stairwell
Height matters more than width in a tall space. A tiered brass chandelier fills a two-story foyer in a way a flat ring cannot. Wherever people walk beneath it, the lowest point should stay at least seven feet off the floor.
Glass, globes and the brass chandelier glow
Many of these pair the brass with glass: milk glass globes, smoke grey tiers, clear glass around exposed bulbs. Milk glass gives the most even, forgiving light. Smoke glass dims and warms it, which suits a dark room and the slower mood of dark academia lighting. Clear glass shows the bulb, so use a warm filament bulb you are happy to look at.
Let the patina stay
Antique brass is meant to look lived in, not flawless. Dust it gently, check the product care notes before using any cleaner, and let the finish settle in with the furniture beneath it.
