Large bathroom vanities, 61 inches and wider
Past five feet, a vanity stops sitting against the wall and becomes the wall. The mirror, the lighting and the tile all read as parts of it. In a big primary bath that is exactly the point, a long, low mass of cabinetry that gives the room its horizon. In a room that is only barely big enough, the same piece can turn the space into a corridor with a counter along one side.
The bulk of this range sits at the familiar numbers, 66, 72, 80 and 84 inches, and each has its own page on the shop by vanity size slider above. This page is for everything around them. A few pieces land at 68, 82 and 83 inches, and a small group runs to 96 and even 120 inches for the rare wall that can hold ten feet of cabinet. Almost everything here is built with two sinks, so if you are comparing layouts, our full set of double sink vanities is the natural next step, and the widest view of the category lives with our luxury bathroom vanities as a whole.
Double vanity layouts past 60 inches
At this length, two sinks can finally sit far enough apart that each person has a real station. That distance matters more than the sink count. Look at how much counter sits between the two bowls and how much sits outside them. A long stretch in the middle makes a shared landing zone. Generous ends give each person their own. Neither is better. They simply suit different households.
Long bathroom vanity widths between the standards
The practical takeaway: measure the wall twice, once at the floor and once at counter height, and plan for a little air at each end. A cabinet that meets both side walls with no gap looks built in, which can be lovely, but only if the walls are true. In most houses they are not. A few inches of reveal at each end forgives an out of plumb corner and gives the vanity a silhouette of its own. This is where the 68 and 82 inch pieces earn their place.
Extra long bathroom vanity with a single sink
A small group here holds one sink across the full width. It is an unusual choice and an underrated one. You give up the second station and gain a counter long enough to feel like a dressing table, with room for a lamp, a tray, a stack of folded towels. For a primary bath used mostly by one person, or a guest bath with serious square footage, it is the calmer answer.
Wide bathroom vanity walls, mirrors and lamps
The mistake to avoid is treating the wall above as an afterthought. At seven feet of cabinet, one mirror that runs nearly the full width reads as architecture. Two mirrors over two sinks read as symmetry. A single small mirror in the middle reads as a mistake. Settle this before choosing the vanity, since it changes where the sconces go and how the tile is laid.
What seven feet of cabinet asks of a room
The nuance most guides skip is how a long cabinet behaves in low light. In the morning, a window at one end throws raking light down its whole length, and the grain of oak or walnut becomes the most animated thing in the room. At night, with lamps on at the mirror, the ends of a very long vanity fall away into shadow. That can be beautiful. It can also make the room feel smaller than it is. Put light where the counter ends, not only where the sinks are, and the full width stays in the room after dark.
Finishes run across white, black, gray, oak and walnut, with deeper greens and blues for rooms that want more weight low on the wall. On a piece this size, the cabinet color decides the mood of the room more than the paint does.
