Taffy Accent Table in Black Fiber Reinforced Concrete with a Fluted Column Form
The Taffy accent table is entirely vertical in orientation and entirely about surface texture. The form is a cylinder resolved into deep parallel flutes running from base to top, each rib a full rounded column in cross-section. The top edge is scalloped where the ridges meet the opening: not a flat cut, but a continuous wave of peaks and valleys tracing the geometry of the fluted body below. In matte black concrete the flutes cast hard shadow lines in direct light and flatten to a more uniform dark surface in diffused conditions. The piece looks different at different times of day, which is unusual in something this small.
The Taffy Accent Table from Moe's Home Collection stands 18.5 inches tall at 15 inches wide and 15 inches deep. The fiber reinforced concrete construction is cast as a single piece. The scalloped top opening means the interior of the column is visible from above; the table functions as a side surface but reads simultaneously as a vessel. At 40.7 lbs it is very dense for its dimensions, the concrete weight providing stability without any additional base structure.

Moe Samieian Sr. arrived in Canada with an engineering degree and almost nowhere to use it. So he sold rugs at road shows, worked on commission, and learned the retail floor through years of direct customer contact.
In 1986 he opened his first store in Vancouver. Walking the trade shows, he kept noticing the same thing: most furniture looked identical. So he started hunting for pieces with something to say. Antiques. Flea-market finds. Objects with texture and history. More stores followed, and in 1999 he moved decisively into wholesale.
His children Sara and Moe Jr. carried that instinct forward. Not what merely sells. What resonates. That distinction still drives every collection.
The materials earn their place. Wood warms the edges. Stone steadies the eye. Steel adds tension. Glass lets the composition breathe. A hand-worked surface keeps a modern room from feeling too resolved.
The goal was never perfection. It was presence.

The Craft
Material First - Trend Second
Every collection is designed in-house, then built through a manufacturing network developed over decades. Vietnam, India, Italy, Poland, Canada, the USA. Not the lowest-cost option in any of those places. Long-term makers who've been held to the same standards long enough that the standards stopped needing to be explained.
The construction is what you'd expect from that kind of relationship. Solid hardwood frames. High-density foam. Hardware that doesn't announce itself by failing early. These are not selling points so much as baseline expectations that a lot of furniture quietly fails to meet.
The materials go further than that. Acacia grain that no engineered surface comes close to replicating. Stone that grounds a room both visually and physically, which are different things and both matter. Mixed metals chosen for tension rather than coordination. FSC-certified wood and responsible sourcing throughout, though the more honest argument for it shows up over time, in how the pieces age rather than what the spec sheet says.
