The Renee Wightman Collection gathers home furnishings by Renee Wightman, a designer whose pieces Uttermost produces, from marble drink tables and round wall mirrors to hand-painted canvas art, sculptures and accent cabinets. Most of it lives at the edges of a room: the drink table at a chair arm, the round mirror opposite a lamp. Pick one or two pieces for the gaps your seating leaves open and let them play a supporting role.
Renee Wightman Furniture Lives at Arm's Reach
Start with the drink tables in the Renee Wightman Collection. Many measure 8.5 to 12 inches across and stand 22 to 24 inches tall, wide enough for a glass beside a chair arm and little else.
Marble, Crystal and Faux Shagreen Drink Tables
White marble rests on a dark bronze stem, and an oval of crystal sits over an aged brass base. The faux shagreen drums with brass come in white and in charcoal. After dark the charcoal one nearly disappears, leaving its brass to catch the light. Put one at each end of a sofa rather than asking a single table to serve two people, and keep lamps off tops this narrow. A lamp needs the footprint of the 20-inch round bronze table with two amber glass shelves, or one of the larger side tables across AURA. One piece breaks the pattern: a 16-inch silver cast aluminum accent table listed for indoor and outdoor use.
Renee Wightman, Home Furnishings Designer for Uttermost
Uttermost lists Renee Wightman among its designers, and her name appears in the company's 2019 catalog designer list. Uttermost produces her pieces, and at AURA they sit within the Uttermost furniture we carry.
Renee Wightman Wall Art and Wall Mirrors
Large Hand-Painted Abstract Canvas Art
Several of the hand-painted canvases come in a tall 50 by 74 inch format. That shape needs ceiling height or a stair landing. Hung over a sofa on an eight-foot wall, it runs out of room above and below. The 62-inch square abstract in a champagne gold frame settles down at night, when the frame holds the lamplight and the natural-toned canvas recedes. For a smaller companion, look through our abstract and metal wall decor before adding a second large canvas.
Round Bronze and Cerused Wood Wall Mirrors
A 36-inch round in warm bronze cast iron adds depth without adding pattern, and after sunset its glass works as a second light source. In a natural cerused finish, the 38-inch round does the reverse, lifting a dark wall rather than deepening it.
Renee Wightman Sculptures and Tabletop Decor
Most of the sculptures come as a pair or a set of three, and several stand tall and narrow. In a room that also holds David Frisch furniture, use them to repeat whichever black or metal is already there. The black and white ceramic set with crystal accents reaches nearly 29 inches. Split a set across a credenza. Three objects in a row look like inventory.
Renee Wightman Accent Cabinets and Credenzas
Much of the storage runs dark. Keep one pattern per wall and a carved credenza can face Osvaldo Mendoza furniture across the room without the two competing. On the 44-inch dark stained elm accent cabinet, the grain does that work in place of carving. Relief flattens under an overhead fixture. Set a lamp beside a carved front and the relief turns into shadow lines you can read from the sofa.
These pieces work where Organic Modern and Dark Academia overlap, with pale marble against dark wood and aged gold against black. Choose one light material and one dark one for the room, and stop there. A third note starts to look like a showroom.
