The headboard is the only ornament the room needs

Symmetry, and a pair of everything

Deco wants a center line. A bed centered on the wall, a nightstand on each side, a sconce above each nightstand, a lamp on each surface. The art deco bedroom furniture in these photos is arranged in pairs, and the eye settles because it can find the middle.

Velvet on the bed, lacquer beside it

Velvet returns lamplight at night and absorbs it by day, so a deep green or oxblood bed changes mood without anything else in the room moving. The mistake is the mirror
