Greenington Furniture
Greenington builds furniture from 100% solid Moso bamboo, and the material is the whole point. Not a substitute. Not a trend. Solid Moso bamboo is approximately 20 percent harder than Red Oak, dimensionally stable, and reaches harvest maturity in three to five years rather than the fifty or more that comparable hardwoods require. That is a structural advantage and an environmental one at the same time.
Greenington has been making furniture from this material since 2004, in ISO 14001 certified, zero-waste facilities, with construction methods that treat bamboo as the serious furniture material it actually is. At AURA Modern Home, we carry Greenington because the pieces are beautiful, the construction is honest, and the sustainability commitment is genuine rather than decorative.
The Greenington Bamboo Furniture Collection
Bedroom furniture is the brand's strongest category. Platform beds in the Azara, Currant, Ventura, Park Avenue, Weston, and other collection lines, each with coordinating nightstands, dressers, chests, and benches built from the same material throughout. In the dining room: solid bamboo dining tables in round and rectangular profiles, matched dining chairs, sideboards, and shelving units. In the living room: coffee tables, side tables, and console tables in clean modern profiles.
Every piece is built from 100% solid Moso bamboo. No MDF core. No particle board. No plywood with a bamboo veneer. When Greenington says solid bamboo, the construction reflects it all the way through.
Design Notes: The bedroom collection is where Greenington is hardest to compete with on materials and construction at this price point. Solid bamboo drawer boxes, English dovetail joinery, soft-close hardware, and pieces finished on all four sides. That is a fully considered build.
Why Moso Bamboo Is a Serious Furniture Material
Bamboo gets dismissed. The material is routinely assumed to be lightweight or impermanent, which is the opposite of what solid Moso bamboo actually is.
Moso is the largest and densest species of bamboo. It reaches full material hardness as it matures, which takes three to five years. A comparable hardwood takes decades. The finished material is approximately 20 percent harder than Red Oak, dimensionally stable, and resistant to the moisture fluctuations that cause solid hardwoods to warp or crack over time.
That difference is not a compromise. It is a structural advantage combined with an environmental one, and Greenington has been building furniture around it for over twenty years.
Curator's Observations: Bamboo grain reads differently than wood grain. Linear, fine, and consistent in a way that works particularly well in rooms built around clean lines and natural texture. If the room leans Japandi or organic modern, bamboo grain is part of what makes the space feel considered rather than assembled.
Greenington Bedroom Furniture: Platform Beds, Dressers, and Storage
Platform beds, nightstands, dressers, chests, and benches. The full bedroom build from a single brand, in solid Moso bamboo throughout.
Greenington's bedroom furniture collections, including Azara, Currant, Ventura, Park Avenue, and Weston, each offer coordinating suites with matched hardware and finish. Drawers use solid bamboo drawer boxes with English dovetail joinery and soft-close hardware throughout. The pieces are finished on all four sides, which matters when a bed floats away from the wall or a dresser is visible from multiple angles in an open room.
For a bedroom built around natural materials, architectural restraint, and furniture that stays stable and beautiful over years of real use, Greenington is a dependable anchor.
Greenington Dining and Living Room Furniture
Solid bamboo dining tables in round and rectangular profiles. Dining chairs with upholstered or solid bamboo seats. Coordinating sideboards and display shelving. The bamboo grain carries warmth through a dining room that reads as natural material rather than manufactured finish.
The living room collection includes coffee tables, side tables, console tables, and sofa tables in clean architectural profiles proportioned for contemporary rooms and finish-matched to the dining and bedroom lines. A full-home build from a single brand is a practical option, and the pieces hold together because the design logic holds.
Design Notes: A Greenington dining table and a Greenington sideboard in the same room read as a decision, not a coincidence. The bamboo grain and the finish carry consistently across categories.
Greenington Furniture Finish Options and Construction Methods
Two production methods. Both solid throughout.
The Classic collections use solid strips of the bamboo culm. In some lines, the bamboo is steamed to produce the warm caramelized color naturally, through heat chemistry applied to the bamboo sugars rather than any stain or dye. The Exotic collections use a denser compression process that produces a grain pattern resembling tropical hardwood, with greater uniformity and depth.
Finish options: Caramelized, Sable, Amber, Black Walnut, Wheat, Caviar, and Exotic Tiger. Warm honey tones, deep reddish-brown finishes, near-black contemporary options, and the high-contrast light-and-dark pattern of the Tiger.
Curator's Observations: The Sable and Black Walnut finishes are the ones we use most at AURA. In rooms with darker walls or moodier palettes, the bamboo grain reads with more depth and presence than it does in bright light. The material earns it.
Greenington, Sustainability, and Certified Bamboo Manufacturing
Greenington holds ISO 14001 certification, the international standard for environmental management systems, and is a member of the Sustainable Furnishings Council, which holds members to documented standards around sourcing, manufacturing practices, and supply chain transparency.
The zero-waste manufacturing process means material trimmed from one production step feeds the next. Bamboo is also one of the strongest carbon-sequestering plants on earth, releasing significantly more oxygen than an equivalent stand of trees over the same growing period. The environmental case for Greenington bamboo furniture is not marketing language. It is the natural result of what the plant does.
Design Notes: For clients who ask about sustainability, Greenington is the honest answer. ISO 14001 certified. Zero-waste process. A material that grows back in years, not decades.
Greenington Furniture at AURA: The Japandi and Organic Modern Connection
At AURA Modern Home, Greenington earns its place in rooms built around the Japandi aesthetic and the organic modern aesthetic. Both favor restraint, natural material honesty, and furniture that communicates its construction without drawing attention to itself. Greenington does exactly that.
The Sable and Black Walnut finishes pair with the muted tones and natural textiles those aesthetics favor. A Greenington platform bed in Sable, in a low-lit room with neutral bedding and a single textural layer, reads exactly as both aesthetics ask. The grain is present. The finish holds the shadow. The room stays quiet.
