The headboard is the design decision, and specifically the horizontal joint is. Two solid acacia slabs run the full queen width - wide boards stacked vertically - with a narrow visible gap left between them at the seam. The construction is not hidden. The gap runs edge to edge, the cut face of each slab visible at the joint, the acacia's warm grain and natural character present at that break. Below the headboard the platform sits low on four angled black iron legs that splay outward at the corners - mid-century geometry in direct contrast to the raw, organic material above it.
At 47 inches tall the headboard has genuine presence, but the horizontal joint line breaks that height in a way a solid slab would not - the eye reads the two-piece construction before it reads the total height, which keeps the piece from feeling monolithic. Solid acacia in natural finish carries warm golden-brown grain with occasional knots, and the material shifts across light conditions: golden and active in morning daylight, deepening under warm evening lamp. The angled black iron legs are a deliberate material counterpoint - warm wood above, cool metal below the platform edge. At 120 lbs it assembles with two people. Mattress not included.

Moe Samieian Sr. arrived in Canada with an engineering degree and almost nowhere to use it. So he sold rugs at road shows, worked on commission, and learned the retail floor through years of direct customer contact.
In 1986 he opened his first store in Vancouver. Walking the trade shows, he kept noticing the same thing: most furniture looked identical. So he started hunting for pieces with something to say. Antiques. Flea-market finds. Objects with texture and history. More stores followed, and in 1999 he moved decisively into wholesale.
His children Sara and Moe Jr. carried that instinct forward. Not what merely sells. What resonates. That distinction still drives every collection.
The materials earn their place. Wood warms the edges. Stone steadies the eye. Steel adds tension. Glass lets the composition breathe. A hand-worked surface keeps a modern room from feeling too resolved.

The Craft
Material First - Trend Second
Every collection is designed in-house, then built through a manufacturing network developed over decades. Vietnam, India, Italy, Poland, Canada, the USA. Not the lowest-cost option in any of those places. Long-term makers who've been held to the same standards long enough that the standards stopped needing to be explained.
The construction is what you'd expect from that kind of relationship. Solid hardwood frames. High-density foam. Hardware that doesn't announce itself by failing early. These are not selling points so much as baseline expectations that a lot of furniture quietly fails to meet.
The materials go further than that. Acacia grain that no engineered surface comes close to replicating. Stone that grounds a room both visually and physically, which are different things and both matter. Mixed metals chosen for tension rather than coordination. FSC-certified wood and responsible sourcing throughout, though the more honest argument for it shows up over time, in how the pieces age rather than what the spec sheet says.
