The dark Emperador marble top sits over a pale natural oak body with the kind of tonal contrast that takes no effort to read. The marble is near-black, dense with gold and cream veining, and the oak below is warm and light -- the two materials hold their positions without competing. One drawer covers the middle section, its front flush and hardware-free. Below it an open shelf gives the piece a second accessible layer without adding a door.
At 20 by 17 by 24 inches the nightstand is compact and vertically proportioned -- not wide, which reads cleanly against a bed without monopolizing the wall. The Emperador top is the statement; the oak frame is the restraint. The one mistake is styling the open shelf heavily -- a single book and a small object hold the reading better than a collection. Four straight legs lift the base just enough to let light pass beneath. At 53.7 lbs it moves with moderate effort. Assembly required.

The Origin
A Family That BuiltSomething From Nothing
Moe Samieian Sr. arrived in Canada with an engineering degree and almost nowhere to use it. So he sold rugs at road shows, worked on commission, and learned the retail floor through years of direct customer contact.
In 1986 he opened his first store in Vancouver. Walking the trade shows, he kept noticing the same thing: most furniture looked identical. So he started hunting for pieces with something to say. Antiques. Flea-market finds. Objects with texture and history. More stores followed, and in 1999 he moved decisively into wholesale.
His children Sara and Moe Jr. carried that instinct forward. Not what merely sells. What resonates. That distinction still drives every collection.
The materials earn their place. Wood warms the edges. Stone steadies the eye. Steel adds tension. Glass lets the composition breathe. A hand-worked surface keeps a modern room from feeling too resolved.
The goal was never perfection. It was presence.

The Craft
Material First - Trend Second
Every collection is designed in-house, then built through a manufacturing network developed over decades. Vietnam, India, Italy, Poland, Canada, the USA. Not the lowest-cost option in any of those places. Long-term makers who've been held to the same standards long enough that the standards stopped needing to be explained.
The construction is what you'd expect from that kind of relationship. Solid hardwood frames. High-density foam. Hardware that doesn't announce itself by failing early. These are not selling points so much as baseline expectations that a lot of furniture quietly fails to meet.
The materials go further than that. Acacia grain that no engineered surface comes close to replicating. Stone that grounds a room both visually and physically, which are different things and both matter. Mixed metals chosen for tension rather than coordination. FSC-certified wood and responsible sourcing throughout, though the more honest argument for it shows up over time, in how the pieces age rather than what the spec sheet says.
