Franco Chair in Deep Forest Green Recycled Velvet, Arched Upholstered Base
The Franco chair does something unusual with its base: instead of legs, the seat body descends into two thick upholstered pillars that meet the floor with a narrow arch cut between them. The frame never appears. The whole piece reads as a single sculptural form from front to back, the barrel back curving softly around both sides and meeting the seat in a continuous upholstered shell. In deep forest green recycled velvet, the effect is rich and self-assured without borrowing the language of traditional upholstery.
The Franco Chair from Moe's Home Collection is compact: 27.5 inches wide, 28 inches deep, 27.5 inches tall. It reads larger than those numbers suggest because the arched base and the full barrel form give it a sculptural presence that more conventional chairs at this footprint do not have. The FSC-certified pine and plywood frame sits on no-zag springs and webbing, which gives the seat a structured spring rather than a foam-only compression. The velvet is made from 100% recycled polyester, which affects nothing about how it looks and catches light as natural velvet does, but matters if material sourcing is part of the consideration. Dark green velvet is unforgiving of pet hair.

The Origin
A Family That BuiltSomething From Nothing
Moe Samieian Sr. arrived in Canada with an engineering degree and almost nowhere to use it. So he sold rugs at road shows, worked on commission, and learned the retail floor through years of direct customer contact.
In 1986 he opened his first store in Vancouver. Walking the trade shows, he kept noticing the same thing: most furniture looked identical. So he started hunting for pieces with something to say. Antiques. Flea-market finds. Objects with texture and history. More stores followed, and in 1999 he moved decisively into wholesale.
His children Sara and Moe Jr. carried that instinct forward. Not what merely sells. What resonates. That distinction still drives every collection.
The materials earn their place. Wood warms the edges. Stone steadies the eye. Steel adds tension. Glass lets the composition breathe. A hand-worked surface keeps a modern room from feeling too resolved.

The Craft
Material First - Trend Second
Every collection is designed in-house, then built through a manufacturing network developed over decades. Vietnam, India, Italy, Poland, Canada, the USA. Not the lowest-cost option in any of those places. Long-term makers who've been held to the same standards long enough that the standards stopped needing to be explained.
The construction is what you'd expect from that kind of relationship. Solid hardwood frames. High-density foam. Hardware that doesn't announce itself by failing early. These are not selling points so much as baseline expectations that a lot of furniture quietly fails to meet.
The materials go further than that. Acacia grain that no engineered surface comes close to replicating. Stone that grounds a room both visually and physically, which are different things and both matter. Mixed metals chosen for tension rather than coordination. FSC-certified wood and responsible sourcing throughout, though the more honest argument for it shows up over time, in how the pieces age rather than what the spec sheet says.
