Dark Brown Oak and Paper Cord Nightstand (FC-1010-20) by Moe's Home Collection

Dark Brown Oak and Charcoal Paper Cord Nightstand | 20 Inch | Nightstand
The same form as the natural version -- drawer above, woven shelf below, solid oak legs -- in a dark espresso-brown stain that changes the piece entirely. Where the natural oak reads warm and open, the dark brown reads as grounded and contained. The grain is still visible through the stain, giving the surface depth rather than opacity, but the overall tone is decidedly moody: the kind of furniture that suits a bedroom with heavy curtains and deep-toned walls as easily as it suits a minimal space.
The woven lower shelf is dark grey rather than natural, which keeps the material pairing coherent. That tonal agreement throughout -- dark brown oak above, dark grey cord below, dark round pull receding into the drawer face -- is what makes it read as considered rather than simply available-in-two-finishes. Against light walls or light-toned flooring, this piece carries more visual weight than its 19-inch width suggests. Against dark walls or dark floors, it participates quietly.
The practical logic is the same as the natural version: one lamp, one object, nothing more. But the dark finish is more forgiving of visual additions than the light one, which reads every addition immediately. The nuance worth knowing: the dark stain makes the oak grain visible in a different way than the natural finish does -- more like relief than color, legible in raking light, nearly invisible straight-on.

Moe's Home Collection:Forty Years of Furniture With a Point of View
Some brands earn trust loudly. Moe's has never needed to. The evidence shows up in rooms, season after season, in pieces that end up feeling more considered than their owners quite anticipated. More grounded. More alive.
That doesn't happen by accident. It happens because someone decided, a long time ago, that material and craft were worth the extra conversation, and never really stopped having it.

The Pieces Feel Found - Not Simply Bought

The Origin
A Family That BuiltSomething From Nothing
Moe Samieian Sr. arrived in Canada with an engineering degree and almost nowhere to use it. So he sold rugs at road shows, worked on commission, and learned the retail floor through years of direct customer contact.
In 1986 he opened his first store in Vancouver. Walking the trade shows, he kept noticing the same thing: most furniture looked identical. So he started hunting for pieces with something to say. Antiques. Flea-market finds. Objects with texture and history. More stores followed, and in 1999 he moved decisively into wholesale.
His children Sara and Moe Jr. carried that instinct forward. Not what merely sells. What resonates. That distinction still drives every collection.
The materials earn their place. Wood warms the edges. Stone steadies the eye. Steel adds tension. Glass lets the composition breathe. A hand-worked surface keeps a modern room from feeling too resolved.
The goal was never perfection. It was presence.

The Craft
Material First - Trend Second
Every collection is designed in-house, then built through a manufacturing network developed over decades. Vietnam, India, Italy, Poland, Canada, the USA. Not the lowest-cost option in any of those places. Long-term makers who've been held to the same standards long enough that the standards stopped needing to be explained.
The construction is what you'd expect from that kind of relationship. Solid hardwood frames. High-density foam. Hardware that doesn't announce itself by failing early. These are not selling points so much as baseline expectations that a lot of furniture quietly fails to meet.
The materials go further than that. Acacia grain that no engineered surface comes close to replicating. Stone that grounds a room both visually and physically, which are different things and both matter. Mixed metals chosen for tension rather than coordination. FSC-certified wood and responsible sourcing throughout, though the more honest argument for it shows up over time, in how the pieces age rather than what the spec sheet says.
- Moe's does not source furniture. It curates it.
