Description

Dark Atlantic Barrel Swivel Chair with Wood Disc Base | 31 Inch | Swivel Chair

Same barrel form on the same dark walnut disc swivel base, in dark atlantic where the deep blue occupies the room in a way the pale versions don't. The barrel form in a saturated deep color reads as a considered statement -- this is not an accent chair that disappears into a neutral palette but one that introduces a dominant tonal note at a compact footprint. At 31 by 31 inches the chair holds a deep blue presence without claiming much floor area; the barrel's rounded silhouette contains the color rather than spreading it across a large surface.

The relationship between the dark atlantic upholstery and the dark walnut disc base is tonally close -- both are dark, but the cool blue above and the warm brown wood below read as opposites in temperature rather than competitors in depth. That tension is the combination's interest: the base warms; the upholstery cools; the two read as a deliberate pairing rather than a simple material choice. In evening lamplight the dark atlantic deepens further and the warm wood base reads by contrast as the piece's only warm surface. In daylight the blue carries more variation and the textured fabric weave becomes visible across the barrel's faces.

In a room with other cool tones the chair integrates as a color peer; in a room with warm and natural tones it reads as the sole cool accent, which at this contained footprint is exactly what a swivel accent chair should do. At 57 pounds the practical characteristics are identical across the series.

Moe's Home Collection:Forty Years of Furniture With a Point of View

Some brands earn trust loudly. Moe's has never needed to. The evidence shows up in rooms, season after season, in pieces that end up feeling more considered than their owners quite anticipated. More grounded. More alive.

That doesn't happen by accident. It happens because someone decided, a long time ago, that material and craft were worth the extra conversation, and never really stopped having it.

The Pieces Feel Found - Not Simply Bought

The Origin

A Family That BuiltSomething From Nothing

Moe Samieian Sr. arrived in Canada with an engineering degree and almost nowhere to use it. So he sold rugs at road shows, worked on commission, and learned the retail floor through years of direct customer contact.

In 1986 he opened his first store in Vancouver. Walking the trade shows, he kept noticing the same thing: most furniture looked identical. So he started hunting for pieces with something to say. Antiques. Flea-market finds. Objects with texture and history. More stores followed, and in 1999 he moved decisively into wholesale.

His children Sara and Moe Jr. carried that instinct forward. Not what merely sells. What resonates. That distinction still drives every collection.

The materials earn their place. Wood warms the edges. Stone steadies the eye. Steel adds tension. Glass lets the composition breathe. A hand-worked surface keeps a modern room from feeling too resolved.

The goal was never perfection. It was presence.

The Craft

Material First - Trend Second

Every collection is designed in-house, then built through a manufacturing network developed over decades. Vietnam, India, Italy, Poland, Canada, the USA. Not the lowest-cost option in any of those places. Long-term makers who've been held to the same standards long enough that the standards stopped needing to be explained.

The construction is what you'd expect from that kind of relationship. Solid hardwood frames. High-density foam. Hardware that doesn't announce itself by failing early. These are not selling points so much as baseline expectations that a lot of furniture quietly fails to meet.

The materials go further than that. Acacia grain that no engineered surface comes close to replicating. Stone that grounds a room both visually and physically, which are different things and both matter. Mixed metals chosen for tension rather than coordination. FSC-certified wood and responsible sourcing throughout, though the more honest argument for it shows up over time, in how the pieces age rather than what the spec sheet says.

- Moe's does not source furniture. It curates it.
