80" Black Shagreen 4-Door Sideboard with Drum Legs (VL-1099-02) by Moe's Home Collection

Black Shagreen-Texture Four-Door Sideboard with Drum Legs | 80 Inch | Sideboard
The base is the design decision. Eight compact cylindrical drums span the full 80-inch width of the case, each one short and equal in height, reading like a row of columns supporting the mass above. In all black -- case, door fronts, and drums -- the colonnade effect is architectural rather than decorative: the repeated cylinders create a rhythm at floor level that prevents the sideboard from simply sitting on the ground. At 196.5 pounds, this piece has no intention of moving.
The door fronts are covered in a shagreen-patterned polyurethane that references one of furniture-making's oldest luxury surface treatments. In black, the pebbly texture reads at close range as depth rather than pattern -- visible in raking light and nearly invisible in flat overhead light. That near-tonal quality gives the piece a formal restraint that a bolder surface would undermine. The overall effect is a piece that reads as solid dark mass from across the room and reveals its texture only when you're standing beside it.
At 80 by 17.75 by 32.63 inches, this suits a wide dining room wall or a living room where something substantial holds the opposite end from a sofa arrangement. The common mistake is placing it on a wall that can't contain it -- the piece needs breathing room on either side and ceiling height that allows the drum legs to register. The white version is more forgiving in smaller or lighter rooms; this one requires commitment.

Moe's Home Collection:Forty Years of Furniture With a Point of View
Some brands earn trust loudly. Moe's has never needed to. The evidence shows up in rooms, season after season, in pieces that end up feeling more considered than their owners quite anticipated. More grounded. More alive.
That doesn't happen by accident. It happens because someone decided, a long time ago, that material and craft were worth the extra conversation, and never really stopped having it.
A Design House, Not a Furniture Factory
The Pieces Feel Found - Not Simply Bought

The Origin
A Family That BuiltSomething From Nothing
Moe Samieian Sr. arrived in Canada with an engineering degree and almost nowhere to use it. So he sold rugs at road shows, worked on commission, and learned the retail floor through years of direct customer contact.
In 1986 he opened his first store in Vancouver. Walking the trade shows, he kept noticing the same thing: most furniture looked identical. So he started hunting for pieces with something to say. Antiques. Flea-market finds. Objects with texture and history. More stores followed, and in 1999 he moved decisively into wholesale.
His children Sara and Moe Jr. carried that instinct forward. Not what merely sells. What resonates. That distinction still drives every collection.
The materials earn their place. Wood warms the edges. Stone steadies the eye. Steel adds tension. Glass lets the composition breathe. A hand-worked surface keeps a modern room from feeling too resolved.
The goal was never perfection. It was presence.
Moe's Is Built for PeopleWho Notice the Difference

The Craft
Material First - Trend Second
Every collection is designed in-house, then built through a manufacturing network developed over decades. Vietnam, India, Italy, Poland, Canada, the USA. Not the lowest-cost option in any of those places. Long-term makers who've been held to the same standards long enough that the standards stopped needing to be explained.
The construction is what you'd expect from that kind of relationship. Solid hardwood frames. High-density foam. Hardware that doesn't announce itself by failing early. These are not selling points so much as baseline expectations that a lot of furniture quietly fails to meet.
The materials go further than that. Acacia grain that no engineered surface comes close to replicating. Stone that grounds a room both visually and physically, which are different things and both matter. Mixed metals chosen for tension rather than coordination. FSC-certified wood and responsible sourcing throughout, though the more honest argument for it shows up over time, in how the pieces age rather than what the spec sheet says.
- Moe's does not source furniture. It curates it.
