Torrento marble at a coffee table: the stone brings geological depth and visual weight to the seating zone that no ceramic, wood, or glass surface replicates. The warm grey stone -- pale in its ground tone with subtle grey veining -- reads as simultaneously light and substantial: the color close to a pale warm limestone, the weight of the slab reading as anchored and permanent at room center. At 40 wide and 30 deep the table occupies the standard proportion of a primary-seating coffee table. The form carries the marble as both surface and structure -- thick slab sides read as the table's base, the stone's own mass giving the form its stability.
What a marble slab table does to a room that no wood or glass surface can: it reads as an object with geological permanence. The veining is not decorative in the conventional sense -- it is the natural record of the stone's formation, reading differently with every viewing angle and light source. Moe Samieian Sr. arrived in Canada with an engineering degree and almost nowhere to use it. So he sold rugs at road shows, worked on commission, and learned the retail floor through years of direct customer contact.
In 1986 he opened his first store in Vancouver. Walking the trade shows, he kept noticing the same thing: most furniture looked identical. So he started hunting for pieces with something to say. Antiques. Flea-market finds. Objects with texture and history. More stores followed, and in 1999 he moved decisively into wholesale.
His children Sara and Moe Jr. carried that instinct forward. Not what merely sells. What resonates. That distinction still drives every collection.
The materials earn their place. Wood warms the edges. Stone steadies the eye. Steel adds tension. Glass lets the composition breathe. A hand-worked surface keeps a modern room from feeling too resolved.

The Craft
Material First - Trend Second
Every collection is designed in-house, then built through a manufacturing network developed over decades. Vietnam, India, Italy, Poland, Canada, the USA. Not the lowest-cost option in any of those places. Long-term makers who've been held to the same standards long enough that the standards stopped needing to be explained.
The construction is what you'd expect from that kind of relationship. Solid hardwood frames. High-density foam. Hardware that doesn't announce itself by failing early. These are not selling points so much as baseline expectations that a lot of furniture quietly fails to meet.
The materials go further than that. Acacia grain that no engineered surface comes close to replicating. Stone that grounds a room both visually and physically, which are different things and both matter. Mixed metals chosen for tension rather than coordination. FSC-certified wood and responsible sourcing throughout, though the more honest argument for it shows up over time, in how the pieces age rather than what the spec sheet says.
