The exterior is all restraint: black ash frame, black body, two glass-panel doors with black frames, a flat dark surface that gives nothing away about what is inside. Open those doors and the interior reads entirely differently. Natural oak veneer lines the shelves and inner drawer fronts, warm blonde grain where the outside promised nothing but dark planes. The material contrast between exterior black and interior oak is not decorative. The cabinet presents a closed, recessive face to the room and reserves the warmth for the objects it holds.
At 40 by 18.85 by 80 inches this is a full-height display and storage piece. The upper interior holds open shelves behind the glass panels, objects in the warm oak interior readable through the panes against the dark frame even when the doors are closed. Below the open upper section, three drawers with warm oak fronts provide closed storage, their faces reading as a horizontal sequence of grain at lower height. Under warm evening lamp the glass panels reflect the lamp source slightly, the objects inside catching warm light through the glass. The piece rewards deliberate curation. Moe Samieian Sr. arrived in Canada with an engineering degree and almost nowhere to use it. So he sold rugs at road shows, worked on commission, and learned the retail floor through years of direct customer contact.
In 1986 he opened his first store in Vancouver. Walking the trade shows, he kept noticing the same thing: most furniture looked identical. So he started hunting for pieces with something to say. Antiques. Flea-market finds. Objects with texture and history. More stores followed, and in 1999 he moved decisively into wholesale.
His children Sara and Moe Jr. carried that instinct forward. Not what merely sells. What resonates. That distinction still drives every collection.
The materials earn their place. Wood warms the edges. Stone steadies the eye. Steel adds tension. Glass lets the composition breathe. A hand-worked surface keeps a modern room from feeling too resolved.

The Craft
Material First - Trend Second
Every collection is designed in-house, then built through a manufacturing network developed over decades. Vietnam, India, Italy, Poland, Canada, the USA. Not the lowest-cost option in any of those places. Long-term makers who've been held to the same standards long enough that the standards stopped needing to be explained.
The construction is what you'd expect from that kind of relationship. Solid hardwood frames. High-density foam. Hardware that doesn't announce itself by failing early. These are not selling points so much as baseline expectations that a lot of furniture quietly fails to meet.
The materials go further than that. Acacia grain that no engineered surface comes close to replicating. Stone that grounds a room both visually and physically, which are different things and both matter. Mixed metals chosen for tension rather than coordination. FSC-certified wood and responsible sourcing throughout, though the more honest argument for it shows up over time, in how the pieces age rather than what the spec sheet says.
