Description

Black Aluminum Square Dining Table | 35 Inch | Compact Two to Four Person Dining Table

Aluminum construction gives this a physical quality distinct from every wood or stone table in the catalog: the black powder-coated surface is matte and precise, the material's lower density allowing thinner profiles at the edges than solid wood construction of the same footprint would permit. At 35 by 35 inches this is a two-person dining table, or a compact four-person arrangement where the seating is deliberately close - cafe scale, urban apartment scale, the format where a full-size dining table would consume a room that the table is meant to serve. At 60 lbs it is the lightest full-height dining table in the collection by a wide margin.

The design consequence of matte black aluminum at this scale is precision without weight - the table reads as clean and decided rather than warm or material-forward. In rooms where visual restraint is the intent and the dining table should hold its corner without dominating the floor plan, this format works. The powder-coated black finish reads consistently through all light conditions without the tonal shifts that wood finishes produce - what it looks like in daylight is what it looks like under lamp. In rooms that carry other black or dark metal pieces the table reads as part of the same material direction. Some assembly required.

The Lexie Dining Table from Moe's Home Collection measures 35 inches wide by 35 inches deep and 30 inches tall. Black powder-coated aluminum. At 60 lbs it repositions easily. Some assembly required.

Moe's Home Collection:Forty Years of Furniture With a Point of View

Some brands earn trust loudly. Moe's has never needed to. The evidence shows up in rooms, season after season, in pieces that end up feeling more considered than their owners quite anticipated. More grounded. More alive.

That doesn't happen by accident. It happens because someone decided, a long time ago, that material and craft were worth the extra conversation, and never really stopped having it.

The Pieces Feel Found - Not Simply Bought

The Origin

A Family That BuiltSomething From Nothing

Moe Samieian Sr. arrived in Canada with an engineering degree and almost nowhere to use it. So he sold rugs at road shows, worked on commission, and learned the retail floor through years of direct customer contact.

In 1986 he opened his first store in Vancouver. Walking the trade shows, he kept noticing the same thing: most furniture looked identical. So he started hunting for pieces with something to say. Antiques. Flea-market finds. Objects with texture and history. More stores followed, and in 1999 he moved decisively into wholesale.

His children Sara and Moe Jr. carried that instinct forward. Not what merely sells. What resonates. That distinction still drives every collection.

The materials earn their place. Wood warms the edges. Stone steadies the eye. Steel adds tension. Glass lets the composition breathe. A hand-worked surface keeps a modern room from feeling too resolved.

The goal was never perfection. It was presence.

The Craft

Material First - Trend Second

Every collection is designed in-house, then built through a manufacturing network developed over decades. Vietnam, India, Italy, Poland, Canada, the USA. Not the lowest-cost option in any of those places. Long-term makers who've been held to the same standards long enough that the standards stopped needing to be explained.

The construction is what you'd expect from that kind of relationship. Solid hardwood frames. High-density foam. Hardware that doesn't announce itself by failing early. These are not selling points so much as baseline expectations that a lot of furniture quietly fails to meet.

The materials go further than that. Acacia grain that no engineered surface comes close to replicating. Stone that grounds a room both visually and physically, which are different things and both matter. Mixed metals chosen for tension rather than coordination. FSC-certified wood and responsible sourcing throughout, though the more honest argument for it shows up over time, in how the pieces age rather than what the spec sheet says.

- Moe's does not source furniture. It curates it.
