Description

Antique Brass Cast Aluminum Vase with Botanical Relief | 11 Inch | Vase

The surface is the form. A shallow rectangular vessel -- 7.5 inches wide, only 1.5 inches deep -- covered entirely in a deeply cast botanical relief pattern: flower heads, leaves, and organic forms projecting outward from the surface plane at significant three-dimensional depth. This is not incised or printed surface decoration but fully cast relief, the botanical motifs rendered in the mold itself so that each element stands proud of the surrounding surface and creates shadow in the recessed areas between. In evening lamplight the shadows shift as the light source angle changes, and the relief reads with a specificity that flat or printed pattern cannot achieve.

The antique brass finish on cast aluminum sits in the recessed areas as a slightly darker tone and reads warmer and lighter across the raised peaks of the relief -- the two-tone quality of the patinated finish is part of how the botanical pattern reads as dimensional rather than graphic. Against a pale wall or surface the whole object reads as a warm antique bronze form. In a room with other aged metals, dark woods, or period-influenced objects the patinated botanical surface connects as a material peer.

At 11 inches tall and just 1.5 inches deep the piece has the proportions of a decorative tile or plaque as much as a functional vase. The narrow depth makes it useful in positions where a standard vase would project too far from the wall. At 5.2 pounds it is solid for its apparent volume.

Moe's Home Collection:Forty Years of Furniture With a Point of View

Some brands earn trust loudly. Moe's has never needed to. The evidence shows up in rooms, season after season, in pieces that end up feeling more considered than their owners quite anticipated. More grounded. More alive.

That doesn't happen by accident. It happens because someone decided, a long time ago, that material and craft were worth the extra conversation, and never really stopped having it.

The Pieces Feel Found - Not Simply Bought

The Origin

A Family That BuiltSomething From Nothing

Moe Samieian Sr. arrived in Canada with an engineering degree and almost nowhere to use it. So he sold rugs at road shows, worked on commission, and learned the retail floor through years of direct customer contact.

In 1986 he opened his first store in Vancouver. Walking the trade shows, he kept noticing the same thing: most furniture looked identical. So he started hunting for pieces with something to say. Antiques. Flea-market finds. Objects with texture and history. More stores followed, and in 1999 he moved decisively into wholesale.

His children Sara and Moe Jr. carried that instinct forward. Not what merely sells. What resonates. That distinction still drives every collection.

The materials earn their place. Wood warms the edges. Stone steadies the eye. Steel adds tension. Glass lets the composition breathe. A hand-worked surface keeps a modern room from feeling too resolved.

The goal was never perfection. It was presence.

The Craft

Material First - Trend Second

Every collection is designed in-house, then built through a manufacturing network developed over decades. Vietnam, India, Italy, Poland, Canada, the USA. Not the lowest-cost option in any of those places. Long-term makers who've been held to the same standards long enough that the standards stopped needing to be explained.

The construction is what you'd expect from that kind of relationship. Solid hardwood frames. High-density foam. Hardware that doesn't announce itself by failing early. These are not selling points so much as baseline expectations that a lot of furniture quietly fails to meet.

The materials go further than that. Acacia grain that no engineered surface comes close to replicating. Stone that grounds a room both visually and physically, which are different things and both matter. Mixed metals chosen for tension rather than coordination. FSC-certified wood and responsible sourcing throughout, though the more honest argument for it shows up over time, in how the pieces age rather than what the spec sheet says.

- Moe's does not source furniture. It curates it.
