Description

Blackened Bronze Cast Aluminum Vase with Sculpted Rim | 10 Inch | Vase

The rim is the object's defining feature. The opening is not a clean edge but a series of three or four undulating rises and dips that give the vessel's top surface an actively irregular silhouette -- more like a crumpled or folded form than a turned one. The body narrows from a wider mid-section toward the base in a shield-like profile, smooth and continuous, and that contrast between the calm body and the active rim gives the piece its character. From the front the form reads as resolved; at rim height the composition becomes the undulating edge against the dark interior.

The blackened bronze finish is near-black and matte -- no reflective quality, no warmth at ambient light. Under direct light the surface carries a faint warm undertone where the cast metal's texture catches a slight raking reflection, but the dominant read is flat dark. The dark interior deepens the object's tonal range slightly: the interior sits as a darker black against the already-dark exterior surface, creating a subtle interior contrast visible through the open rim. In a room with other dark objects the piece absorbs into the palette; isolated on a pale surface it reads as a compact dark form with a distinctly animated top edge.

At 6.9 by 6.9 by 10.5 inches the object is a proper accent piece -- scaled for a console, shelf, or side table rather than for the floor. At 3.4 pounds it is solid for its size, consistent with cast aluminum rather than formed sheet metal. The same form appears in antique brass for rooms where warmth is preferred over the near-black register of this finish.

Moe's Home Collection:Forty Years of Furniture With a Point of View

Some brands earn trust loudly. Moe's has never needed to. The evidence shows up in rooms, season after season, in pieces that end up feeling more considered than their owners quite anticipated. More grounded. More alive.

That doesn't happen by accident. It happens because someone decided, a long time ago, that material and craft were worth the extra conversation, and never really stopped having it.

The Pieces Feel Found - Not Simply Bought

The Origin

A Family That BuiltSomething From Nothing

Moe Samieian Sr. arrived in Canada with an engineering degree and almost nowhere to use it. So he sold rugs at road shows, worked on commission, and learned the retail floor through years of direct customer contact.

In 1986 he opened his first store in Vancouver. Walking the trade shows, he kept noticing the same thing: most furniture looked identical. So he started hunting for pieces with something to say. Antiques. Flea-market finds. Objects with texture and history. More stores followed, and in 1999 he moved decisively into wholesale.

His children Sara and Moe Jr. carried that instinct forward. Not what merely sells. What resonates. That distinction still drives every collection.

The materials earn their place. Wood warms the edges. Stone steadies the eye. Steel adds tension. Glass lets the composition breathe. A hand-worked surface keeps a modern room from feeling too resolved.

The goal was never perfection. It was presence.

The Craft

Material First - Trend Second

Every collection is designed in-house, then built through a manufacturing network developed over decades. Vietnam, India, Italy, Poland, Canada, the USA. Not the lowest-cost option in any of those places. Long-term makers who've been held to the same standards long enough that the standards stopped needing to be explained.

The construction is what you'd expect from that kind of relationship. Solid hardwood frames. High-density foam. Hardware that doesn't announce itself by failing early. These are not selling points so much as baseline expectations that a lot of furniture quietly fails to meet.

The materials go further than that. Acacia grain that no engineered surface comes close to replicating. Stone that grounds a room both visually and physically, which are different things and both matter. Mixed metals chosen for tension rather than coordination. FSC-certified wood and responsible sourcing throughout, though the more honest argument for it shows up over time, in how the pieces age rather than what the spec sheet says.

- Moe's does not source furniture. It curates it.
