Description

White Round-Shell Dining Chair with Dark Rubberwood Frame | 32 Inch | Dining Chair

The chair's back is a rounded shell -- a continuous upholstered form curving from one side around the sitter's back to the other, the front face of the shell a single softly padded surface in cream white polyester. There are no angular transitions, no exposed frame at the back's perimeter -- just the rounded shell ending at its own edge, the dark rubberwood frame visible only at the legs and the open sides of the seat structure. The rear legs splay slightly outward as they reach the floor, giving the chair its distinctive silhouette from across the dining room -- a composed, slightly exuberant base below the restrained rounded shell above.

White upholstery at the dining table reads as the room's clean, cool counterpoint -- at each seating position a rounded white shell against the table's material, the chairs composing the dining arrangement's perimeter as a series of soft pale volumes. Against a dark table the white chairs deliver the most decisive contrast. Against warm oak the white reads as a cool neutral that lifts the arrangement. In morning dining room light the white polyester reads at its cleanest, the rounded shell form casting a slight shadow at its sides as the surface curves away. In warm lamplight the white settles toward ivory, the soft shell form reading as a quieter presence at the table's edge.

The practical note with white upholstery at the dining position is the obvious one: the pale surface shows spills and contact marks more readily than any darker tone. The polyester material cleans efficiently, but the decision to use white dining chairs is a maintenance commitment that should be made with that reality understood. At 20.87 inches wide the chair's rounded shell back is slightly wider than a conventional dining chair -- the curve requires accounting for when spacing chair positions along the table. Sold as a set of two; 22 pounds per chair. The dark rubberwood frame and pale white shell deliver a material contrast at the table that reads most sharply in morning light.

Moe's Home Collection:Forty Years of Furniture With a Point of View

Some brands earn trust loudly. Moe's has never needed to. The evidence shows up in rooms, season after season, in pieces that end up feeling more considered than their owners quite anticipated. More grounded. More alive.

That doesn't happen by accident. It happens because someone decided, a long time ago, that material and craft were worth the extra conversation, and never really stopped having it.

The Pieces Feel Found - Not Simply Bought

The Origin

A Family That BuiltSomething From Nothing

Moe Samieian Sr. arrived in Canada with an engineering degree and almost nowhere to use it. So he sold rugs at road shows, worked on commission, and learned the retail floor through years of direct customer contact.

In 1986 he opened his first store in Vancouver. Walking the trade shows, he kept noticing the same thing: most furniture looked identical. So he started hunting for pieces with something to say. Antiques. Flea-market finds. Objects with texture and history. More stores followed, and in 1999 he moved decisively into wholesale.

His children Sara and Moe Jr. carried that instinct forward. Not what merely sells. What resonates. That distinction still drives every collection.

The materials earn their place. Wood warms the edges. Stone steadies the eye. Steel adds tension. Glass lets the composition breathe. A hand-worked surface keeps a modern room from feeling too resolved.

The goal was never perfection. It was presence.

The Craft

Material First - Trend Second

Every collection is designed in-house, then built through a manufacturing network developed over decades. Vietnam, India, Italy, Poland, Canada, the USA. Not the lowest-cost option in any of those places. Long-term makers who've been held to the same standards long enough that the standards stopped needing to be explained.

The construction is what you'd expect from that kind of relationship. Solid hardwood frames. High-density foam. Hardware that doesn't announce itself by failing early. These are not selling points so much as baseline expectations that a lot of furniture quietly fails to meet.

The materials go further than that. Acacia grain that no engineered surface comes close to replicating. Stone that grounds a room both visually and physically, which are different things and both matter. Mixed metals chosen for tension rather than coordination. FSC-certified wood and responsible sourcing throughout, though the more honest argument for it shows up over time, in how the pieces age rather than what the spec sheet says.

- Moe's does not source furniture. It curates it.
