The base is what commits this chair to a design position. Instead of legs, it sits on two dark walnut veneer side panels that angle forward from back to front at the base -- a continuous veneer sled structure holding the upholstered body without any individual leg points touching the floor. The contrast between the soft rounded upholstered shell above and the flat planar veneer structure below is the whole design argument: warmth and softness on top, material precision and edge below. The upholstery is 100% recycled polyester in a warm flecked tan, a tweedy slightly irregular surface with visible flecks that read as warmth rather than as pattern.
At 33.27 by 29.7 by 29.5 inches the chair is compact. The rounded back has low gently curved arms that feel like a continuation of the back rather than distinct attached elements. The walnut veneer base needs something to respond to in the room -- another wood surface, dark metal, or warm stone -- otherwise the base sits as an isolated dark element without material context. In warm evening light the veneer deepens and the contrast against the pale flecked upholstery increases. At 51 lbs it moves easily. Assembly required.

Moe Samieian Sr. arrived in Canada with an engineering degree and almost nowhere to use it. So he sold rugs at road shows, worked on commission, and learned the retail floor through years of direct customer contact.
In 1986 he opened his first store in Vancouver. Walking the trade shows, he kept noticing the same thing: most furniture looked identical. So he started hunting for pieces with something to say. Antiques. Flea-market finds. Objects with texture and history. More stores followed, and in 1999 he moved decisively into wholesale.
His children Sara and Moe Jr. carried that instinct forward. Not what merely sells. What resonates. That distinction still drives every collection.
The materials earn their place. Wood warms the edges. Stone steadies the eye. Steel adds tension. Glass lets the composition breathe. A hand-worked surface keeps a modern room from feeling too resolved.
The goal was never perfection. It was presence.

The Craft
Material First - Trend Second
Every collection is designed in-house, then built through a manufacturing network developed over decades. Vietnam, India, Italy, Poland, Canada, the USA. Not the lowest-cost option in any of those places. Long-term makers who've been held to the same standards long enough that the standards stopped needing to be explained.
The construction is what you'd expect from that kind of relationship. Solid hardwood frames. High-density foam. Hardware that doesn't announce itself by failing early. These are not selling points so much as baseline expectations that a lot of furniture quietly fails to meet.
The materials go further than that. Acacia grain that no engineered surface comes close to replicating. Stone that grounds a room both visually and physically, which are different things and both matter. Mixed metals chosen for tension rather than coordination. FSC-certified wood and responsible sourcing throughout, though the more honest argument for it shows up over time, in how the pieces age rather than what the spec sheet says.
