Tan Leather Rolling Barrel-Back Dining Chair (KQ-1045-40-USA) by Moe's Home Collection

Tan Leather Rolling Dining Chair with Barrel Back | 32 Inch | Dining Chair
Same barrel-back form and caster base as the fabric versions -- in top grain leather, which changes the chair's register from soft and domestic to something with more presence and durability. The tan leather is a warm cognac-brown, neither pale nor dark, with a smooth matte surface that picks up slight tonal variation from light angles. In the barrel form the leather follows the continuous curve of the back and arms; the form retains its soft-rounded quality without reading as overstuffed.
At a dining table the leather version reads as a more deliberate material choice than the fabric versions -- the tan tone has a warm depth that sits well against natural wood, stone, and aged metal. In lamplight the leather develops a richer amber quality. The casters and mobility argument are identical across all versions of this form. Where the fabric versions read as domestic and soft, the leather version reads as composed and specific.
The practical note worth stating: top grain leather at a dining chair seat position develops character marks and patina with regular use, which adds to rather than diminishes the material over time. This is the correct understanding of the material -- it improves with use rather than requiring protection from it. At 33 pounds it moves as easily as the fabric versions.

Moe's Home Collection:Forty Years of Furniture With a Point of View
Some brands earn trust loudly. Moe's has never needed to. The evidence shows up in rooms, season after season, in pieces that end up feeling more considered than their owners quite anticipated. More grounded. More alive.
That doesn't happen by accident. It happens because someone decided, a long time ago, that material and craft were worth the extra conversation, and never really stopped having it.
A Design House, Not a Furniture Factory
The Pieces Feel Found - Not Simply Bought

The Origin
A Family That BuiltSomething From Nothing
Moe Samieian Sr. arrived in Canada with an engineering degree and almost nowhere to use it. So he sold rugs at road shows, worked on commission, and learned the retail floor through years of direct customer contact.
In 1986 he opened his first store in Vancouver. Walking the trade shows, he kept noticing the same thing: most furniture looked identical. So he started hunting for pieces with something to say. Antiques. Flea-market finds. Objects with texture and history. More stores followed, and in 1999 he moved decisively into wholesale.
His children Sara and Moe Jr. carried that instinct forward. Not what merely sells. What resonates. That distinction still drives every collection.
The materials earn their place. Wood warms the edges. Stone steadies the eye. Steel adds tension. Glass lets the composition breathe. A hand-worked surface keeps a modern room from feeling too resolved.
The goal was never perfection. It was presence.

The Craft
Material First - Trend Second
Every collection is designed in-house, then built through a manufacturing network developed over decades. Vietnam, India, Italy, Poland, Canada, the USA. Not the lowest-cost option in any of those places. Long-term makers who've been held to the same standards long enough that the standards stopped needing to be explained.
The construction is what you'd expect from that kind of relationship. Solid hardwood frames. High-density foam. Hardware that doesn't announce itself by failing early. These are not selling points so much as baseline expectations that a lot of furniture quietly fails to meet.
The materials go further than that. Acacia grain that no engineered surface comes close to replicating. Stone that grounds a room both visually and physically, which are different things and both matter. Mixed metals chosen for tension rather than coordination. FSC-certified wood and responsible sourcing throughout, though the more honest argument for it shows up over time, in how the pieces age rather than what the spec sheet says.
- Moe's does not source furniture. It curates it.
