Description

Tan Leather Barrel Swivel Chair with Brass Disc Base | 31 Inch | Swivel Chair

The same barrel form as the fabric versions in this series, with one material difference that changes the piece's room register: the swivel base is a warm brass-toned metal disc rather than dark walnut wood. Tan leather above a gold-warm brass circle reads as a warmer, more elevated combination than the dark-base versions -- both materials are in the warm tonal range, and the contrast between the cognac leather and the brass reads as a deliberate period-influenced pairing rather than a material tension. The piece connects to a tradition of mid-century lounge chairs where warm leather and warm metal were the standard combination.

Top grain leather on a barrel form means the seam lines running across the curved surfaces are visible and legible -- the material communicates how the pieces were wrapped around the frame, which is part of the leather barrel's character. The natural grain variation of the hide is visible across the back and seat faces. In a room with other warm-toned metals -- aged brass fixtures, bronze objects, gold hardware -- the base connects without requiring a precise finish match. In a room without other metal the brass disc reads as the piece's sole metallic note, which at this warm tone is enough.

Feather and high-density foam in the seat and back means the cushion surfaces have genuine softness and will settle comfortably over time. At 57.3 pounds the leather version is marginally heavier than the fabric versions. Top grain leather will develop a patina at the most-handled zones -- the arm surfaces and the front seat edge -- and the tan finish will show that aging as a natural deepening over time.

Moe's Home Collection:Forty Years of Furniture With a Point of View

Some brands earn trust loudly. Moe's has never needed to. The evidence shows up in rooms, season after season, in pieces that end up feeling more considered than their owners quite anticipated. More grounded. More alive.

That doesn't happen by accident. It happens because someone decided, a long time ago, that material and craft were worth the extra conversation, and never really stopped having it.

The Pieces Feel Found - Not Simply Bought

The Origin

A Family That BuiltSomething From Nothing

Moe Samieian Sr. arrived in Canada with an engineering degree and almost nowhere to use it. So he sold rugs at road shows, worked on commission, and learned the retail floor through years of direct customer contact.

In 1986 he opened his first store in Vancouver. Walking the trade shows, he kept noticing the same thing: most furniture looked identical. So he started hunting for pieces with something to say. Antiques. Flea-market finds. Objects with texture and history. More stores followed, and in 1999 he moved decisively into wholesale.

His children Sara and Moe Jr. carried that instinct forward. Not what merely sells. What resonates. That distinction still drives every collection.

The materials earn their place. Wood warms the edges. Stone steadies the eye. Steel adds tension. Glass lets the composition breathe. A hand-worked surface keeps a modern room from feeling too resolved.

The goal was never perfection. It was presence.

The Craft

Material First - Trend Second

Every collection is designed in-house, then built through a manufacturing network developed over decades. Vietnam, India, Italy, Poland, Canada, the USA. Not the lowest-cost option in any of those places. Long-term makers who've been held to the same standards long enough that the standards stopped needing to be explained.

The construction is what you'd expect from that kind of relationship. Solid hardwood frames. High-density foam. Hardware that doesn't announce itself by failing early. These are not selling points so much as baseline expectations that a lot of furniture quietly fails to meet.

The materials go further than that. Acacia grain that no engineered surface comes close to replicating. Stone that grounds a room both visually and physically, which are different things and both matter. Mixed metals chosen for tension rather than coordination. FSC-certified wood and responsible sourcing throughout, though the more honest argument for it shows up over time, in how the pieces age rather than what the spec sheet says.

- Moe's does not source furniture. It curates it.
