The arms are the architecture. Two solid oak panels arc from the front post down to the floor in a continuous curve, framing the seat on both sides and giving the chair its entire visual identity. They are not slim accent rails -- they are substantial, wide, and fully present from every angle. The upholstered seat and back sit within that oak frame as a contained interior element; the leather doesn't reach the floor and doesn't extend beyond the wood. What you see first is the warm grain of the curved oak. The leather is what's inside.
The cool brown leather -- a grey-tinged tone, neither warm cognac nor standard chocolate -- creates a deliberate temperature contrast against the warm honey oak. Warm wood framing cool leather. The combination reads as more considered than a tonal match would; the eye catches the difference and finds it intentional. A small metal stretcher connects the two front posts at the base, adding a fine structural note that reads as a different material entirely from both the wood and the leather without competing with either.
At 29.5 by 36 by 29 inches the footprint is compact, but the curved arms project wider than the seat itself, which makes the chair read larger in a room than its dimensions suggest. At 52 pounds it moves easily. Moe Samieian Sr. arrived in Canada with an engineering degree and almost nowhere to use it. So he sold rugs at road shows, worked on commission, and learned the retail floor through years of direct customer contact.
In 1986 he opened his first store in Vancouver. Walking the trade shows, he kept noticing the same thing: most furniture looked identical. So he started hunting for pieces with something to say. Antiques. Flea-market finds. Objects with texture and history. More stores followed, and in 1999 he moved decisively into wholesale.
His children Sara and Moe Jr. carried that instinct forward. Not what merely sells. What resonates. That distinction still drives every collection.
The materials earn their place. Wood warms the edges. Stone steadies the eye. Steel adds tension. Glass lets the composition breathe. A hand-worked surface keeps a modern room from feeling too resolved.

The Craft
Material First - Trend Second
Every collection is designed in-house, then built through a manufacturing network developed over decades. Vietnam, India, Italy, Poland, Canada, the USA. Not the lowest-cost option in any of those places. Long-term makers who've been held to the same standards long enough that the standards stopped needing to be explained.
The construction is what you'd expect from that kind of relationship. Solid hardwood frames. High-density foam. Hardware that doesn't announce itself by failing early. These are not selling points so much as baseline expectations that a lot of furniture quietly fails to meet.
The materials go further than that. Acacia grain that no engineered surface comes close to replicating. Stone that grounds a room both visually and physically, which are different things and both matter. Mixed metals chosen for tension rather than coordination. FSC-certified wood and responsible sourcing throughout, though the more honest argument for it shows up over time, in how the pieces age rather than what the spec sheet says.
