Description

Tapestry Cord-Trim Swivel Dining Chair with Barrel Back | 29 Inch | Dining Chair

The Cecil barrel form in tapestry -- the blue and cream botanical print running across the full upholstered surface, the gathered cotton cord trim visible at every seam, the same small back cushion within the interior arc, the swivel base below. The tapestry pattern on a barrel-back dining chair is an unusual and specific combination: the traditional botanical print of the fabric against the contemporary barrel form and swivel base, the two registers composing as something that reads as eclectic and deliberate rather than consistent to a single period. At the dining table the tapestry barrel chairs present a composed series of botanical-printed rounded forms at each seating position -- the muted blue and cream print reading from across the dining room as the table's color and pattern decision together.

The cord trim detail at the seam lines reads against the tapestry print as a fine linear structure -- the cotton cord defining every upholstered edge as a composed line against the printed surface, the detail visible at close range as a considered finishing quality. In morning dining room light the blue botanical print reads at its most detailed -- fine foliage, floral forms visible at the seat and back face of each chair. In warm dining lamplight the muted blue-grey print settles into the room's warmth, the barrel form reading as a composed rounded volume at each place setting.

The tapestry version is the dining chair for rooms that run toward collected, eclectic character -- rooms where one unexpected material choice generates the impression of accumulated personality. The swivel base is consistent with the rest of the series. At 52.5 pounds the construction is substantial. The polyester fabric cleans with a damp cloth; spot treat as needed.

Moe's Home Collection:Forty Years of Furniture With a Point of View

Some brands earn trust loudly. Moe's has never needed to. The evidence shows up in rooms, season after season, in pieces that end up feeling more considered than their owners quite anticipated. More grounded. More alive.

That doesn't happen by accident. It happens because someone decided, a long time ago, that material and craft were worth the extra conversation, and never really stopped having it.

The Pieces Feel Found - Not Simply Bought

The Origin

A Family That BuiltSomething From Nothing

Moe Samieian Sr. arrived in Canada with an engineering degree and almost nowhere to use it. So he sold rugs at road shows, worked on commission, and learned the retail floor through years of direct customer contact.

In 1986 he opened his first store in Vancouver. Walking the trade shows, he kept noticing the same thing: most furniture looked identical. So he started hunting for pieces with something to say. Antiques. Flea-market finds. Objects with texture and history. More stores followed, and in 1999 he moved decisively into wholesale.

His children Sara and Moe Jr. carried that instinct forward. Not what merely sells. What resonates. That distinction still drives every collection.

The materials earn their place. Wood warms the edges. Stone steadies the eye. Steel adds tension. Glass lets the composition breathe. A hand-worked surface keeps a modern room from feeling too resolved.

The goal was never perfection. It was presence.

The Craft

Material First - Trend Second

Every collection is designed in-house, then built through a manufacturing network developed over decades. Vietnam, India, Italy, Poland, Canada, the USA. Not the lowest-cost option in any of those places. Long-term makers who've been held to the same standards long enough that the standards stopped needing to be explained.

The construction is what you'd expect from that kind of relationship. Solid hardwood frames. High-density foam. Hardware that doesn't announce itself by failing early. These are not selling points so much as baseline expectations that a lot of furniture quietly fails to meet.

The materials go further than that. Acacia grain that no engineered surface comes close to replicating. Stone that grounds a room both visually and physically, which are different things and both matter. Mixed metals chosen for tension rather than coordination. FSC-certified wood and responsible sourcing throughout, though the more honest argument for it shows up over time, in how the pieces age rather than what the spec sheet says.

- Moe's does not source furniture. It curates it.
