Description

Black Buffalo Leather Accent Chair with Open Acacia Wood Frame | 30 Inch | Accent Chair

The frame is the piece's design argument. Wide flat acacia arms extend the full depth of the chair's sides -- from the front face to the rear leg, the horizontal plank reading from the seated position as a surface in its own right, not merely structural. Below the arms, the frame legs are visible at front and rear, the dark walnut-toned acacia structure present at every angle as the chair's architectural definition. The black buffalo leather seat and back sit within this dark warm-wood frame as contained upholstered panels. Near-black leather against dark walnut-toned acacia puts both materials in the same very dark register. They don't contrast; they deepen into each other.

The black buffalo leather has the grain the material's character provides -- not a flat, polished surface but a hide with depth and subtle light variation, the natural grain perceptible as dimension rather than uniform darkness. In morning light the leather develops a slight surface sheen at the illuminated face, the acacia frame catching warmth in its grain beside it. In warm lamplight both materials deepen toward their richest dark tones, the chair reading as a settled, composed dark object in the room's warmer light. This is the version for rooms that accept tonal weight -- pale walls, natural fiber rugs, and warm wood floors all provide the contrast this chair requires to read as a deliberate choice rather than a mass of darkness.

At 31 inches wide and 30 inches high the chair sits low and wide -- the proportions suggesting ease and settlement, the acacia arms extending on either side as a substantial presence at seating height. Top-grain buffalo leather requires periodic conditioning to maintain its surface and prevent cracking; the dark tone absorbs scuffs and contact marks more forgivingly than the tan version.

Moe's Home Collection:Forty Years of Furniture With a Point of View

Some brands earn trust loudly. Moe's has never needed to. The evidence shows up in rooms, season after season, in pieces that end up feeling more considered than their owners quite anticipated. More grounded. More alive.

That doesn't happen by accident. It happens because someone decided, a long time ago, that material and craft were worth the extra conversation, and never really stopped having it.

The Pieces Feel Found - Not Simply Bought

The Origin

A Family That BuiltSomething From Nothing

Moe Samieian Sr. arrived in Canada with an engineering degree and almost nowhere to use it. So he sold rugs at road shows, worked on commission, and learned the retail floor through years of direct customer contact.

In 1986 he opened his first store in Vancouver. Walking the trade shows, he kept noticing the same thing: most furniture looked identical. So he started hunting for pieces with something to say. Antiques. Flea-market finds. Objects with texture and history. More stores followed, and in 1999 he moved decisively into wholesale.

His children Sara and Moe Jr. carried that instinct forward. Not what merely sells. What resonates. That distinction still drives every collection.

The materials earn their place. Wood warms the edges. Stone steadies the eye. Steel adds tension. Glass lets the composition breathe. A hand-worked surface keeps a modern room from feeling too resolved.

The goal was never perfection. It was presence.

The Craft

Material First - Trend Second

Every collection is designed in-house, then built through a manufacturing network developed over decades. Vietnam, India, Italy, Poland, Canada, the USA. Not the lowest-cost option in any of those places. Long-term makers who've been held to the same standards long enough that the standards stopped needing to be explained.

The construction is what you'd expect from that kind of relationship. Solid hardwood frames. High-density foam. Hardware that doesn't announce itself by failing early. These are not selling points so much as baseline expectations that a lot of furniture quietly fails to meet.

The materials go further than that. Acacia grain that no engineered surface comes close to replicating. Stone that grounds a room both visually and physically, which are different things and both matter. Mixed metals chosen for tension rather than coordination. FSC-certified wood and responsible sourcing throughout, though the more honest argument for it shows up over time, in how the pieces age rather than what the spec sheet says.

- Moe's does not source furniture. It curates it.
