Black Faux Mohair Accent Chair with Wood Frame (OA-1075-02) by Moe's Home Collection

Black Faux Mohair Accent Chair with Ash Frame | 32 Inch | Accent Chair
The form divides cleanly into two materials: a dark walnut-finished solid ash frame and black faux mohair upholstery. The frame does more than support the cushions -- four substantial rectangular legs extend upward to become the chair's side panels, and those panels frame the seat and back on either side. The cushions sit within the frame rather than over it. From the front, the dark ash and black fabric read at nearly the same tone, close enough that the seam between them registers as shadow rather than material change.
The faux mohair has a slight directional sheen that catches light differently as you move around the chair. In morning light the surface reads as dark charcoal with visible texture; in evening lamplight it deepens and the ash frame absorbs into the overall reading. The low seat and the deep cushion proportion give this the feel of a genuine lounge chair rather than an upright accent piece -- the 28.7-inch depth is serious seating, not decorative presence.
The architectural containment of the cushions within the side-panel frame is the design detail that earns the price. Most accent chairs leave the upholstery and the frame as separate visual elements; here, the frame holds the cushions from both sides and the composition reads as a considered whole rather than a chair with a cover. At 48 pounds, it moves easily but sits with weight once placed.

Moe's Home Collection:Forty Years of Furniture With a Point of View
Some brands earn trust loudly. Moe's has never needed to. The evidence shows up in rooms, season after season, in pieces that end up feeling more considered than their owners quite anticipated. More grounded. More alive.
That doesn't happen by accident. It happens because someone decided, a long time ago, that material and craft were worth the extra conversation, and never really stopped having it.

The Pieces Feel Found - Not Simply Bought

The Origin
A Family That BuiltSomething From Nothing
Moe Samieian Sr. arrived in Canada with an engineering degree and almost nowhere to use it. So he sold rugs at road shows, worked on commission, and learned the retail floor through years of direct customer contact.
In 1986 he opened his first store in Vancouver. Walking the trade shows, he kept noticing the same thing: most furniture looked identical. So he started hunting for pieces with something to say. Antiques. Flea-market finds. Objects with texture and history. More stores followed, and in 1999 he moved decisively into wholesale.
His children Sara and Moe Jr. carried that instinct forward. Not what merely sells. What resonates. That distinction still drives every collection.
The materials earn their place. Wood warms the edges. Stone steadies the eye. Steel adds tension. Glass lets the composition breathe. A hand-worked surface keeps a modern room from feeling too resolved.
The goal was never perfection. It was presence.

The Craft
Material First - Trend Second
Every collection is designed in-house, then built through a manufacturing network developed over decades. Vietnam, India, Italy, Poland, Canada, the USA. Not the lowest-cost option in any of those places. Long-term makers who've been held to the same standards long enough that the standards stopped needing to be explained.
The construction is what you'd expect from that kind of relationship. Solid hardwood frames. High-density foam. Hardware that doesn't announce itself by failing early. These are not selling points so much as baseline expectations that a lot of furniture quietly fails to meet.
The materials go further than that. Acacia grain that no engineered surface comes close to replicating. Stone that grounds a room both visually and physically, which are different things and both matter. Mixed metals chosen for tension rather than coordination. FSC-certified wood and responsible sourcing throughout, though the more honest argument for it shows up over time, in how the pieces age rather than what the spec sheet says.
- Moe's does not source furniture. It curates it.
