Honolulu Chairs in Matte Black Polypropylene Grid Shell on a Steel Sled Base, Set of Two
The Honolulu chair is built around a grid. The entire seat and back shell is molded in polypropylene as an open lattice: a curved basket form with a geometric weave pattern that reads as both structure and decoration, the grid lines following the contour of the seat as the shell sweeps upward into the back. Low integrated armrests arc at each side, staying close enough to the body that they support without adding significant visual bulk. From the side the whole shell curves deeply backward, the seat position low and the back rising to a generous height relative to the chair's footprint.
The Honolulu Chair from Moe's Home Collection sits on a powder-coated steel sled base, the two parallel runners extending below the shell in the same matte black as the polypropylene above. At 22.5 inches wide and 22 inches deep the chair occupies a generous footprint for a side chair. The open grid makes the visual weight lighter than the dimensions suggest: wall and floor read through the lattice, which keeps a row of these chairs from reading as a mass of solid dark objects. Suited for indoor use or covered outdoor settings. At 13.25 lbs the chairs move easily. Sold as a set of two.

A Family That BuiltSomething From Nothing
Moe Samieian Sr. arrived in Canada with an engineering degree and almost nowhere to use it. So he sold rugs at road shows, worked on commission, and learned the retail floor through years of direct customer contact.
In 1986 he opened his first store in Vancouver. Walking the trade shows, he kept noticing the same thing: most furniture looked identical. So he started hunting for pieces with something to say. Antiques. Flea-market finds. Objects with texture and history. More stores followed, and in 1999 he moved decisively into wholesale.
His children Sara and Moe Jr. carried that instinct forward. Not what merely sells. What resonates. That distinction still drives every collection.
The materials earn their place. Wood warms the edges. Stone steadies the eye. Steel adds tension. Glass lets the composition breathe. A hand-worked surface keeps a modern room from feeling too resolved.
The goal was never perfection. It was presence.

The Craft
Material First - Trend Second
Every collection is designed in-house, then built through a manufacturing network developed over decades. Vietnam, India, Italy, Poland, Canada, the USA. Not the lowest-cost option in any of those places. Long-term makers who've been held to the same standards long enough that the standards stopped needing to be explained.
The construction is what you'd expect from that kind of relationship. Solid hardwood frames. High-density foam. Hardware that doesn't announce itself by failing early. These are not selling points so much as baseline expectations that a lot of furniture quietly fails to meet.
The materials go further than that. Acacia grain that no engineered surface comes close to replicating. Stone that grounds a room both visually and physically, which are different things and both matter. Mixed metals chosen for tension rather than coordination. FSC-certified wood and responsible sourcing throughout, though the more honest argument for it shows up over time, in how the pieces age rather than what the spec sheet says.
