Vitreous enamel, the key component of this pendant, is a form of glass meticulously fused to a steel substrate at exceedingly high temperatures, over 800°C. This enameling process, referred to as wet enameling, is a labor of love requiring skilled artisans. In the making of the Coolicon Standard Original Large Pendant, the enamel is applied by hand, layer by layer, demanding a high level of precision and a keen eye for detail. Each application is followed by a round of firing, gradually building a thick, lustrous glass surface. This multi-step process adds a depth of color and a radiant finish that brings an additional level of sophistication to the pendant.
